A striking reproduction of Tōshūsai Sharaku's iconic Kabuki actor portrait — one of the most dramatic and distinctive works in all of ukiyo-e art. Printed at Awagami by their master printer using professional Canon pigment ink on museum-quality AIJP washi paper. Beautifully presented in an individual portfolio sleeve with details about the work.
Sharaku is one of ukiyo-e's most mysterious figures — active for only ten months before vanishing entirely. This work depicts the character Yorōbei as portrayed by the third-generation Ōtani Oniji in an 1794 Kabuki performance, and is celebrated for its intense facial expression and dramatic hand movement.
Size: 42 x 30cm. Made in Japan.
